Did you know it takes approximately a contribution of 10,000 hours to become a legitimate EXPERT in a field? Wow! This is one of the gems dropped this weekend from a definite expert in the music, entertainment and business field. This, past weekend I had the pleasure of attending a seminar for creatives at the "How Can I Be Down" Conference here in Charlotte North Carolina. The featured keynote speaker was no other than innovative creator and businessman Mathew Knowles creator, former manager of Destiny's Child and Beyoncé Knowles. Not to mention the father Bey and Solange. First of all I have to stay, he was everything I DID NOT expect. Not that I really had an expectation based off of facts, but my assumption of him was way off. A boring corporate drill sergeant. He was actually refreshingly chill. Make no mistake he commands a room, yet he was dabbing and singing and very real, blunt and unapologetically unfiltered. HIs entrance alone shows how his force behind the entertainers he has been behind became major stars and icons. As the projector screen showing his intro went up, and you hear his voice expecting him to be on stage, he was walking up the aisle from behind. On a side note: once I heard his birthday was on January 9th, same day as me, I knew it was going to be epic. Only achievers are born on that day! Might I add he shook hands and made conversation with everyone in the room.
The focus of the seminar were the key points in his Amazon best selling book "The DNA of Achievers" Mr. Knowles had everyone stand as he called all the different parts of the entertainment industry from artists to producers to media, so he can get an understanding of who was in the room. He shared many stories about his development of Destiny's Child and hard decisions he had to make and gut following risks he had to take.
The first trait he talked about from his book was PASSION. Having a passion for what it is you want to do. And not being ashamed of that passion. Even if your parents, family or friends may think they know what's best for you, he talked about declaring your passion and claiming it. It must be the thing that drives you and wakes you up every single day.
Some other key points were work ethic, having a strong and solid team, knowing how to work thorough change because it may create chaos. Developing an image to build your brand and most importantly connecting with your audience. You have got to know your niche, your demographic and connect with them. The success of Destiny's Child, Beyoncé, Solange and all of Music World's artists isn't the fact that they can sing, its the connection they make with their audience. Mathew bought customer satisfaction into an industry, into the music of an artist of which never focused on it. You have got to touch your audience. I watched as he called a singer to the stage. She sang her song and he asked her questions about the words, about the music, about where she was at the moment she wrote each and every word, then asked her to re-sing the song... all I will say is the second time around she got a standing ovation. He has the magic touch.
Another major factor he touched on was what I like to call "jack of all trades, master of none". Basically meaning although you may feel like you have several passions, master one first. Too many focused can lead to failure of everything. Don't be a jack be a master!
My favorite points were "talk to do ratio", basically talk less do more. Looking at mistakes as an OPPORTUNITY to GROW and not quit. He mentioned how he always rehearses the failures. For sound to fail and mics to fail. This way you are always prepared. And my favorite, take risks! You cannot play it safe if you want a big reward at the end. He played a snippet of Beyoncé at stage on one of her concerts talking about her failures from 9 years old all the way up to being dropped from her first record label, to being labeled a man hater and told she had no hit records on her first solo album. It basically highlighted her failures and triumphs, the doubters and the naysayers and how she, her father and her team stayed focus on her passion. Did you know her record label told her she had not one hit on Dangerously In Love, her first solo album... and they were right. She had 5! Now what would have happened if she thought they were right and pulled that album...tuh! Did you know Mr. Knowles added some vocals to "Survivor" He even sang us a little sumthin sumthin...hehehehe. It was adorbs.
The dopest part to me outside of the epicness of all the gems dropped by Mr. Knowles, of which I could not help, was me peeking over at him as the slide played. I watched him as he watched his daughter, Beyonce', one of thee greatest entertainers in the world. I mean when will I ever sit in a room with Mathew Knowles again while Beyoncé is on screen? I watched a father who believed in his daughters dream at years old and made it a reality because he has the DNA of an achiever. If you have an opportunity to talk to this man, or attend a workshop of his go. And if you di nothing else at all, every single person who wants to be a success needs to get this book and tap into the achiever in your DNA!
Shout out to Charlotte In Crowd for capturing the picture of myself and Mathew Knowles!

Welcome to Le Juice Box the Blog. Where we highlight and review everything and everyone dope. From restaurants and hotspots to movies, music artists and clothing lines, we are going to bring it all. I racked my brain on what would be the first blog post because there is so much shit going on that everybody else it already talking about, and I thought, why not talk about the whole debate of "the juice vs, the sauce and which is better and why.
Now some would say having the sauce is better Because it add's flavor. It brings a satisfaction to the taste of whatever you're eating... And that's true. You put the right sauce on the right meal and it's heaven on earth. But, does every meal need sauce? Do you put some sort of sauce on every single meal you eat? When your singing you want your rollie with a dab a ranch, you putting that ranch on with everything or nah? Cause that rollie you sure can. Then there was that video going around Instagram with ole boy talking about the sauce was lit because there was nothing better than putting barbeque sauce on his food. But think about it, are you putting barbeque sauce on all of your food???? I must admit there are some sauces that go on everything. My grandmother bought a homemade hot sauce from Trinidad and my father put that shit on ayyyyethang. Whatever he ate. That hot sauce swag is totally differ. No one drinking or eating sauce alone out the bottle Wellllll not normally, lol
Let's take this same meal you have, with or without sauce. There is nothing at all like washing your meal down with a glass or cup of_______ (fill in the blank). When it's hot as hell outside you're looking for something cold to DRINK. When its cold outside you're looking for something warm to DRINK. Thirst is a desire. The drink, or juice quenches a desire with or without food, Juice can stand alone. It's not a topping or addition meaning, I don't need a meal to put my juice ON. It can stand alone or be an addition to a meal, a snack and make it 100% better. And juice represents whatever liquid is going down your throat. So if I had to chose one I would rather have the JUICE. I fulfill a desire and I can stand alone or be an amazing addition and I come in many different flavors and forms.
Now Le Juice Box is on some whole other shit. While everyone is arguing over which is better the Juice or the Sauce, the gag is having both is. Like Young MA says in "Oooouuu" "they say I got the juice I got the sauce" Being able to sustain a desire, be dope as hell whether an addition or alone (Juice) annnnndddddd add extra savory flavor (sauce) is game changing. On our show we have a segment called The Sauce and Who Got The Juice. We bring it all and nah it's not that BBQ sauce type sauce. We got Le Juice and that "hot sauce in my bad swag". And that shit is just on a whole other level!
Which would you rather have? Le Juice or Le Sauce? Comment Below and share!
